At Wonersh and Shamley Green Primary School, we want children to develop a lifelong love of and interest in Science. We aim for children to gain a greater understanding of the world and the impact we have. Throughout the school, children are taught the knowledge they need to make sense of the environment around them. Our teaching of science through outdoor learning enables the children to learn in a practical way as well as having an in-depth understanding of nature throughout the year.
Teachers’ passion for teaching science creatively allows children to learn complex theories through models and demonstrations. For example, children have made models of the ear using plasticine in Year 4, and Year 6 children have made whole class models of the circulatory system. This enthuses them about science and instils a curiosity within them.
