Geography & History
Our intention is for children to develop curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. Our focus is to build children’s knowledge of the past and use it to influence their decisions and to equip them with the skills to help them understand our world today. We want them to develop a sense of where they fit into the world, past, present and future and to know their place spatially by learning about their own locality, country and wider global community.
We want to equip children to think critically and weigh evidence whilst developing their historical and geographical curiosity. We want children to ask and answer questions, to consider different evidence and develop a line of argument or enquiry. By gaining a geographical and historical knowledge and understanding of their own country, and other parts of the world, we hope this will encourage their commitment to sustainable development and develop a sense of what being a global citizen means.
